Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Town of Barrington is soliciting Qualifications and Proposals from qualified consultants or firms (“Consultant”) interested in supporting the Town with the completion of a Recreation Center / Fieldhouse Feasibility Study, to include a needs assessment with stakeholder interviews, and a financial feasibility analysis identifying projected income from user fees, operating and other related costs, and strategies for the Town to fund construction and ongoing expenses. Related to the fields issue is the exploration of a potential recreation center/fieldhouse that would provide indoor recreation facilities, including an indoor athletic field for soccer, lacrosse and other field sports. This facility would be available year-round. It would avoid the need for Barrington sports leagues to utilize facilities outside town during winter months when outdoor fields are closed, as well as provide space for practice throughout the year and during times of inclement weather. The recreation center also would enable the Town to provide additional facilities for people of all ages, including basketball courts, pickleball and tennis courts, indoor track, fitness rooms, batting cages, etc.
