Specifications include, but are not limited to: 5 Year Internal Pipe Inspection Contractor shall supply all necessary labor and tools to provide a 5 Year Obstruction Investigation and a 5 year Internal inspection (5 Year Inspections), including the removal of one Cross main end and the end of one Branch line for the purpose of looking for an obstruction (Rust and or Corrosion); and shall provide an internal inspection of the main riser including alarm valves, dry valves, pre-action valves or deluge valves, any strainers filters or restriction orifices, the fire department check valve and connection. These services shall be scheduled to be done prior to June 15, 2023 of the first year of this contract. During several fire investigations, it was found that the sprinkler systems failed to operate correctly. The cause for this failure was rust / corrosion built up inside the piping, not letting enough water through to operate as designed. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) set up the internal pipe obstruction investigation so a sprinkler system is checked every 5 years to make sure your system is not impacted with corrosion and will work correctly as designed. Contractor shall be required to replace the system gauges due to age during the above internal inspection. Contractor shall be responsible for the parts and labor for the replacement gauges and this shall be included in the inspection price. NFPA 25 requires all gauges be replaced or recalibrated every 5 years. Photographs shall be included along with a written report of the technician's findings during their inspection. All deficiencies and/or repairs shall be reported to the Hospital. Contractor shall provide a quote for completion of any necessary repairs. This contract is for the investigation and inspections only and does not include the actual repairs (except for the replacement gauges above). The State reserves the right to complete the work using internal resources or by obtaining quotes from other vendors for the repairs.
