Specifications include, but are not limited to: This proposal is intended to establish a contract to provide Plant Mix Bituminous Mixture-Commercial Grade (Maintenance) to the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). The contract will be of the “open-end” type. The contractor shall provide such quantities as may be ordered throughout the contract period. Only those quantities actually required will be ordered. Pricing at each plant shall be consistent regardless of the location of use. The bituminous mixture shall be approved by the Area Engineer. The approval in general will be based on the following conditions: (a) All materials shall be furnished by recognized producers. (b) The hot mix plant shall produce a satisfactory mixture. (c) The mixtures produced shall be commercial mixture similar to a BM-2 Surface mix in general use in the area that has a satisfactory service record. If RAP is included in the mix design, it shall not exceed 25%. No oversize RAP material will be accepted in the mix delivered to the road. The mix shall also be in general use in the area and have a satisfactory service record. (d) The Area Engineer shall select the type of mix based on needs at the specific location where the material is to be used. (e) The mix design for the mix selected shall be submitted to the Area Engineer for approval prior to pick up.
