Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University of Georgia ("UGA") is soliciting qualified bids to setup an agency contract for the purchase of long leaf pine straw bales. Bales must measure at least 12"x13"x27" or 2.43 cu. Ft. This is a typical industry-used size bale; making it a typical size for landscaping. This size is the minimum acceptable. Larger bales should reflect a quote on a per cu. Ft. basis per individual bale. • Bales shall be delivered in lots with a total of approximately 1500 bales per load. • Bales must be clean and free of limbs, twigs, leaves, pine combs mildew, and fire ants. Any bales not clean will be rejected and the invoice must reflect a discount of the number of bales unclean. If a large majority of the bales are unclean the entire load will be rejected and the vendor shall replace the load at no additional cost. The suitability/cleanliness will be determined upon the beginning use of the trailer of straw. The department's Grounds Foreman and Grounds Manager will be in charge of rejecting or accepting the bales. • Bales must be baled using farm-type balers using standard baling twine. Metal-bailing twine will not be accepted. Straw baled by hand will not be accepted. • Broken bales (when received) will be left on the truck and will not be accepted and should be credited on the invoice for the next load.
