Specifications include, but are not limited to: 108 linear feet (18, 6-ft sections) of 16’ (width) x 10’ (height) precast reinforced concrete box (RCB) culvert, including precast reinforced concrete 2:1 sloped end sections on the inlet and outlet, 12 linear feet each side (included in the 108 linear feet listed above), Two (2) precast reinforced concrete cutoff walls, Miscellaneous related materials for the future installation of the precast elements as described herein. Materials. RCB. Submit a concrete mix design for approval or use an MDT approved mix design meeting the specifications below in accordance with section 551 of the Montana Book of Standard Specifications. Furnish RCB that meet the requirements HL-93 live loading. RCB must also meet the requirements of ASTM C1577, except the aggregate gradations must meet Subsection 701.01 or a Department approved optimized gradation. Refer to ASTM special design provisions for RCB sizes that are not included in the ASTM table or for any changes in wall thickness. Use Type V or Type IL(HS) cement. Furnish RCB capable of a joint tolerance not exceeding 0.75 inches when installed. Precast holes into the RCB for the cutoff wall connection. Cutoff Walls. Furnish precast concrete cutoff walls that are acceptable for the ends of the RCB and according to the RCB detail. Reinforcing Steel. Provide rebar meeting the requirements of AASHTO M 31, Grade 60 (Grade 420). Fillets. Reinforce fillets with a minimum of #3 grade 60 rebar at 12-inch centers Joint Sealant. Furnish flexible plastic gaskets between culvert sections meeting the requirements of Subsection 707.02. Provide joint material that is 1.25 inch equivalent diameter (1 inch x 1.23 inch actual dimensions). External Joint wrap. Furnish Type III, chemically bonded adhesive butyl bands for all joints between box sections meeting the requirements of ASTM C877. Use Type A designation with a sealing bandwidth of 12 inch. Flared or Tapered End Section. Furnish precast tapered end sections according to the RCB detail. Epoxy Resin Bonding Adhesive. Meet the requirements of AASHTO M 235 Type 4. Miscellaneous. Provide all anchor bolts, tie-bolts, washers, silicone caulking, adhesive primer, and non-shrink grout, etc. necessary for the future installation of the 16’ x 10’ RCB (108-linear foot RCB length), and cutoff walls as shown in the details. Do not include granular bedding, foundation material, geotextile, and streambed material in this bid.
