Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Winterville is considering applying for the Community Development Block Grant Redevelopment Fund to assist with the rehabilitation of the historic Blacksmith Shop, located in the town center between the Winterville Depot and City Hall. The building has served as a storage space for the City of Winterville for a number of years and has deteriorated into poor condition. The building is believed to be the original blacksmith shop built during a similar timeframe as the Winterville Depot, with an estimated construction date of 1890. The building measures approximately 690 square feet with wood siding and a metal roof. The City would like to redevelop the property to potentially include office space for city operations, a small business, or a local non-profit. Due to the building’s age and location within Winterville’s local historic district and National Register historic district, preservation standards and guidelines need to be considered in the plan. The plan will need to include façade improvements, structural stabilization, and other exterior and interior renovations and upgrades.
