Specifications include, but are not limited to: The instruments shall be new and a current production and must meet or exceed the following minimum specifications: 1. Genuine European ebony fingerboard and tailpiece (all ebony fittings). 2. Glue used to build sting instruments must be a hide glue or a soft-based non-high-tension white glue. 3. Inlaid (not painted) purfling. This is sometimes difficult to ascertain. 4. Violins, violas, and cellos should come installed with Wittner® finetune-pegs (not fine-tuners as found on the tailpiece). 5. Celli should have 18-inch endpin with a stop to prevent removal. 6. Basses should have 12-inch endpin with a stop to prevent removal. 7. Violin/viola cases should be Cordura covered plywood case, water resistant seams, and a sturdy, molded handle and shoulder strap. Case to be of proper size, plush lined, with two bow holders, and an accessory pocket. 8. Cello/bass bags should be Padded Cordura® or nylon case (no vinyl) with 10mm or thicker padding lined with tricot, bow pocket, large music pocket, two accessory pockets, water resistant reinforced seams, heavy-duty zippers, with “D” rings for backpack attachment with shoulder strap and handles. 9. Bows have genuine horsehair regardless of stick material.
