Specifications include, but are not limited to: Chevak, AK or “New” Chevak is a Cup’ik village on the north bank of the Niglikfak River, established at thecurrent location in 1950. Old Chevak located on the Keoklevik River to the south, was abandoned by residents because of flooding from high storm tides prior to 1950.Chevak Airport (VAK) was completed in 2006 with a single gravel runway and two (2) Snow RemovalEquipment Buildings (SREBs). The SREBs are 26’x50’ metal buildings built on metal skid frames. Each SREB has a standard sized man door and an equipment door, approximately 20’x12’. Chevak Airport (VAK) isthe only airport on the Nigifaklik River that is owned and maintained by the Alaska DOT&PF.The DOT&PF is currently in the design process to rehabilitate the airport under project # Z537250000 and the design team is progressing towards the 95% Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) review. The project’s scope was recently revised to include a rehabilitation of the two SREBs to extend their service life by another 10 years
