Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City and Borough of Juneau (City or CBJ), Juneau International Airport (JNU or Airport) seeks to discover, discuss, and engage with qualified experienced firms for year-round, non-exclusive retail gift and/or sundry concessions in the public area of the airport terminal. The Airport seeks to re-develop the retail concept, and optimize concession revenues in support of its mission as a transportation hub for Juneau and Southeast Alaska. The Airport has modernized its facilities to meet the expectations of travelers and the public. However, retail space is not available for the traditional “storefront” model, and alternative concepts that work well in passenger circulation areas should be proposed instead, such as retail carts & stands, kiosks, modular Retail Merchandising Units, etc. The Airport wishes to create a retail environment that promotes the businesses of Juneau and Southeast Alaska. The objective is to create a passenger-friendly airport, and partner with tenants to be effective and cost efficient within the space constraints. The Airport is interested in a retail program that uses contemporary displays that are consistent with the aesthetics of the airport terminal, and high quality products with varied price points that are consistent with traveler interests. The successful Concessionaire/s will work with JNU Airport staff to determine acceptable sites and displays. It is the intent of the Airport to enter into a multi-year gift/sundry sales concessions contract with successful Proposer/s, to operate, maintain and manage retail sales to serve travelers and other users of the Airport terminal. The terms of the contract with the successful Proposer(s) may include a square footage lease and/or a concession fee derived from retail sales.
