Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project involves the stabilization of 145 linear feet of eroded streambank (Long Island Creek) along Long Island Drive in Sandy Springs, GA. The project involves re-grading the right bank to a 1.5:1 slope and installing Flexamat Plus erosion control matting atop the re-graded slope. Existing construction debris along the bank and unsuitable soil will be hauled off as necessary. Rip rap will be installed at the toe of the slope. A lane closure plan will need to be submitted to the City of Sandy Springs prior to the start of construction. The project also involves installing 370 linear feet of curb and gutter and 338 linear feet of guardrail along Long Island Drive adjacent to the re-graded slope. Due to the large number of utilities in the area, a guardrail post installation plan will need to be submitted to the Project Engineer prior to the start of guardrail installation. Additional project elements include field locating and coordinating with all existing utilities in the area throughout the duration of the project. Known buried utilities include Fiberlight and Zayo telecommunication lines, underground water and gas. Erosion and sediment control measures will need to be installed and maintained for the project duration. No work is to be done in the stream itself. The prime contractor must perform at least 51% of the work.
