Specifications include, but are not limited to: 3.2. Ready Mix Concrete 3.2.1. The concrete to be supplied under the contract awarded as a result of this RFB shall be produced in accordance with a mix design which conforms to applicable subsections of the City’s Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, Section 101 – Portland Cement Concrete. The concrete shall yield an unconfirmed compressive strength specified in Table 101.C or greater when test cylinders are prepared in accordance with ASTM C-31 and tested in accordance with ASTM C-39 or the latest revisions thereof. After introducing water into the mix, the concrete shall be delivered to the job site within a period not to exceed (1.5) hours during winter months (defined as September through February) and 1 hours during summer months (defined as March through August). The concrete shall be delivered to the job site with a slump of 1.5 – 4 inches tested in accordance with ASTM C-143. Air entrainment shall be added to all concrete furnished in accordance with the approved concrete mix design unless otherwise requested by the City for a specific application. 3.3. Lean Fill Mixture 3.3.1. Lean Fill construction shall consist of filling shallow excavations and pipe zones in deep excavations with lean fill, a viscous mixture of Portland Cement, concrete aggregate, air entrainment and water. 3.3.2. The concrete to be supplied under the contract awarded as a result of this RFB shall be produced in accordance with a mix design which conforms to applicable subsections of the City’s Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, Section 207 – Lean Fill Construction. The determination of Lean Fill design mix shall be the Awarded Bidder’s responsibility and shall be in accordance with all applicable ASTM Standards and the following limits: 3.3.3. Portland Cement - The Awarded Bidder(s) shall provide certification of compliance with ASTM standards from the cement manufacturer identifying the cement and stating the cement delivered to the site complies with all applicable ASTM standards. When requested by the City, the Awarded Bidder(s) shall furnish three (3) copies of said certificate. 3.3.4. Aggregates - The Awarded Bidder(s) shall provide certification of compliance with ASTM standards from the aggregate manufacturer identifying the aggregate, reporting test results and stating the aggregate delivered to the site complies with all applicable ASTM standards. When requested by the City, the Awarded Bidder(s) shall furnish three (3) copies of said certificate. Gradation limits shall be in accordance with ASTM C33 with a maximum aggregate size of one (1) inch.
