Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Kansas Department of Commerce is seeking an experienced consultant or consultancy to serve as an authorized investment representative for Kansas in Japan. One of the missions of the International Division is to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to Kansas. Japan is an important market for Kansas, traditionally ranking as one of the state’s top sources of FDI. This contract is being established to provide the Division the ability to enhance the state’s international business recruitment efforts and increase the amount of FDI by having in-country representation in Japan. The representative will be expected to contribute to the growth of the state’s economy through the attraction of foreign direct investment to Kansas and the creation of quality jobs, thus increasing the opportunities for economic prosperity for all Kansans. • Marketing Opportunities: Developing programs in coordination with Commerce’s International Division to attract potential investors to Kansas by representing the state at targeted trade shows and events; identifying and connecting with Japanese companies in key target sectors, and promoting advantages of a Kansas location for companies planning for expansion in the U.S. market. Marketing initiatives will include communicating with potential investors to provide them information on the Kansas economy and business advantages. • Business Networking: maintaining regular contact with key government officials, industry associations, business communities, SelectUSA/U.S. Department of Commerce, chambers of commerce and other organizations that will further the state’s investment goals and objectives of the region. • International Business Development Mission Support: organizing in-country visits and providing logistics support for Kansas officials to meet with potential business investors and participate in investment seminars, targeted trade shows and events. The service includes but not be limited to arranging meeting schedule and events, providing orientation and briefing materials, arranging hotel and ground transportation, and an interpreter if needed, and participating in mission activities.
