Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Mississippi Department of Employment Security (hereinafter “MDES, Agency, or State”) is requesting sealed bids to establish a contract with a temporary staffing company to create temporary disaster-relief employment that addresses the impacts of the opioid crisis in affected communities. The contracted staffing agency will process participant payments and assist the program-operator universities in placing participants in field placements at pain management clinics, local non-profit organizations, local governmental organizations, and other entities directly involved in addressing the opioid crisis, as identified in cooperation with the program-operator universities. The project will train and employ eligible participants, post-secondary education students, and professionals in alternative pain therapy, mental health, rehabilitative counseling, addictive treatment, and public health occupations. MDES partnered with six (6) universities in Mississippi. Jackson State University (JSU) will serve as the lead for this program with the University of Mississippi, University of Southern Mississippi, Alcorn State University, Mississippi Valley State University, and Delta State University serving as subgrantees under the direction of JSU.
