Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Family and Community Services, Division of Juvenile Justice, is soliciting proposals for the continuation of a system-wide verbal de-escalation training to ensure that youth on probation or in secure custody experience physical interventions at a decreased rate and that the staff have the skills to engage and deescalate youth in a positive manner. The system works to reduce placing hands on youth and feels that verbal de-escalation using the Verbal Judo trademark technique is essential. Providing staff practical tools and solutions for deescalation is of utmost importance in the juvenile justice system. The division is looking for a Verbal Judo trademark technique that offers practical solutions that work in difficult and volatile situations and would like the program to provide the well tested Verbal Judo trademark technique and responses for our staff to learn and use. The contractor will provide training on the Verbal Judo trademark technique division staff trainers who will then be tasked to train other staff across the state. The program will have a recertification process that is clearly stated. The contractor will provide reproducible materials on the contracted Verbal Judo trademark tothe division to use in training. The contracted vendor/company will provide training of trainers to approximately 20 trainers, including training (under the contract)to new trainers due to attrition.
