Specifications include, but are not limited to: GENERAL ASSEMBLY: The component parts of the unit shall be of proper size and design to safely withstand maximum stresses imposed in anticipated usage. The axle shall be in such a position that the load will be properly divided between the front and rear of the trailer with 15 to 20 percent of the GVW on the hitch. The trailer shall be equipped with heavy duty drawbar safety chains and a 5000-pound capacity hydraulic or screw type adjustable stiff leg, capable of being locked in the upright and stored position, for use when the trailer is not connected to the towing unit. The unit shall have fully encompassing fenders with backs. The unit shall comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. CAPACITY: The payload capacity of the unit, including the springs and axle, shall be a minimum of 6000 pounds. PLATFORM: The platform width shall be a minimum of 80". CODE EXCEPTIONS TO SPECIFICATIONS SPECIFICATION PLATFORM (Continued): The platform shall be as low as possible to the ground. The vertical tubing shall be heavy walled for extra strength. The deck and tailgate shall be made of 6-gauge metal unless otherwise specified on the Request for Quotation. The side frames and the 3 adjustable divider frames shall be overlaid with 10- gauge metal. A 19 1/2" hinged tailgate with chain shall be provided as shown on attached pictures. FRAME: The frame shall be of electrically welded structural steel, 4 x 2 x 3/16-inch tube, capable of safely supporting a 6000-pound load from the platform. The crossmembers shall be 2 x 2 x 11-gauge steel tube. Structural members shall not be cut or notched. TONGUE AND HITCH: The unit shall be equipped with a tongue constructed with structural steel, 6 x 2 x 3/16-inch tube. The tongue length ahead of the platform shall be 60" minimum, with a heavy duty pintle hitch having an adjustable height between 17" and 31" with the trailer level. TIRES AND WHEELS: The unit shall have a minimum of ST 235/80R16 trailer tires mounted on 16", 8-bolt wheels.
