Specifications include, but are not limited to: The location for the Multimodal Transportation center will be Block 101, between 9th – 10th/K – L Streets. Block 101 is currently owned by the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County and is the site of a 20-year-old, two-tiered parking lot for city, county and public parking. The MMTC will be built and operated as a stand-alone facility. A 600 parking garage will be built over the MMTC. Fifty parking stalls will be reserved for transit purposes, employees and public. No Federal funds will be used for any portion of this parking garage. The construction of the parking garage will occur simultaneously as the construction for the transit portion. The parking garage construction will not conflict with the transit project. The City & County will own and maintain the land and the MMTC. Project Description of MMTC: 1) 11,000 square feet sustainable facility 2)Ground-floor climate-controlled, indoor passenger waiting area with future retail space and space for inter city buses with customer service staff 3)Restrooms 4)Customer service center 5) StarTran administrative offices on second floor 6) 18 separated bus bays 7) One bus bay reserved for inter-city transit buses between Lincoln-Omaha-Grand Island 8) On-demand systems capability 9) Protected passenger boarding & alighting 10) Environmental sustainability includes 9 in-route charging stations for 13 electric buses, LED lighting, rooftop solar array, drought-resistant landscaping, low-water use fixtures 11) Driver breakroom and vendor space 12) Secured decorative fencing for after hours 13) Covered walkways 14) Real-time electronic schedule & transfer information 15) Onsite bicycle, scooter, and related amenities. Retail space may be available for such uses as food or coffee vendors. In addition, a large public conference room will be on second floor for shared use. StarTran currently has 11 electric buses and plan to purchase four more in next five years. The 9 EV chargers provide short charging times when bus is waiting for bus passengers to load.
