Specifications include, but are not limited to: TEM: First Aid Kit PURPOSE: To provide adequate first aid kits in NHDOT facilities in order to provide basic care until medical providers arrive. DESCRIPTION/OVERALL CONSTRUCTION: • Size The size of each kit – and quantity of contents -- shall be left to the discretion of each Appointing Authority. It shall be based on the number of personnel at the facility, the type and frequency of potential injuries, and proximity to medical providers. In larger facilities, more than one kit may be utilized. All shall meet or exceed the minimum quantities as set below. • Construction Kits shall be either plastic or metal, be waterproof if potential for exposure to the elements, and have individual sealed packages for each type of item. • Contents Contains items necessary for bandaging, medicinal, burn treatment and eye treatment purposes. This specification was created utilizing ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2015 which includes two classes of first aid kits: • Class A kits with contents designed to deal with most common types of workplace injuries (such as offices). • Class B kits with a broader range and quantity of supplies to deal with injuries in more complex or high-risk environments (such as construction, outdoor).
