Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Bethel is requesting proposals from qualified firms of certified public accountants to conduct sales tax audits of businesses in Bethel, Alaska and perform other sales tax duties that can be done remotely. The contract will be for three fiscal years (July 1 to June 30). The City is willing to pay the firm based on time and materials to conduct approximately 150 audits per year or until the budget for this project in that fiscal year is exhausted. An $85,000 budget has been established for the first year of the contract. The City wants to observe the hired firm in action and see how long it takes to conduct audits from start to finish. The City will gauge the company’s results of the sales tax audits before it proposes a set budget amount to City Council for the subsequent two fiscal years.
