Specifications include, but are not limited to: New Mexico State University (NMSU) is seeking proposals from qualified firms for architectural, engineering and professional planning services associated with the NMSU New Mexico Department of Agriculture, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In 2016, NMSU commissioned an update to the 2012 New Mexico Department of Agriculture Space Needs Assessment. The Space Needs Assessment from 2016 determined the existing facility does not meet the spatial or technical requirements of the divisions and administration spaces, Laboratory requirements and safety concerns were identified as high priority. The report recommends replacement of the existing NMDA building for administration, Director’s Office, Information Technology (IT), Marketing & Development (MD), Agricultural Programs & Resources (APR), Office Support, and Building Support. The Agricultural & Environmental Services (AES) and Agricultural Programs & Resources (APR) functions could be integrated. In 2022, NMSU commissioned an update to the 2016 New Mexico Department of Agriculture Space Needs Assessment. The update recommends demolition of the existing building and design of the new building from Programming through Construction Administration Services and close-out. Reference Exhibit A. This is a multi-phased request for design services that could eventually include renovation or expansion for NMDA complex for additional staffing in the next 4 years with the possibility for a contract extension. To address Cannabis Regulations, Healthy Soil Initiative, and administration of Food and Hunger programs, other state regulatory requirement and/or additional funding.
