Specifications include, but are not limited to: The State of Rhode Island will consider only a new, retrofitted model. At minimum, the bus must be in working condition and meet all applicable state and federal rules, regulations and laws. The vendor must also provide adequate and appropriate assurances and/or proof that the bus meets all necessary Rhode Island state inspection and/or registration requirements for operation prior to delivery of the bus. As RI faces a homelessness crisis, the Department of Housing is seeking to implement a Dignity Bus Pilot Program which allows the use of a retrofitted bus to accommodate up to 20 individuals and their pets to serve as an overnight shelter for those experiencing homelessness. The State of Rhode Island is seeking a retrofitted bus with 20 beds for the purpose of keeping unsheltered individuals and their pets warm overnight. At a minimum specification the bus should contain: o AC/heating o 20 climate-controlled sleeping pods with lockable doors o 2 toilets o Luggage/storage area o Pet pods for companion animals o Room for 1 Overnight Caretaker o CCTV surveillance
