Specifications include, but are not limited to: NMDOT has identified the need for the study of the Miyamura Interchange on I-40 in Gallup New Mexico. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the interchange for safety, congestion mitigation and geometric deficiencies. Enhance local and regional connectivity, provide for transit, bicycle, and pedestrian transportation modes, promote economic growth of adjacent and other local commercial and industrial businesses, and improve the aesthetic characteristics of the interchange and its surroundings. The emphasis of this project will be an evaluation of alternatives with consideration given to identifying a reliable system configuration, alignment, and typical section, addressing corridor need such as safety, maintenance and constructability, and compatibility with emerging technology. The Phase I A/B report will recommend an alternative(s) that will move into preliminary and final design.
