Specifications include, but are not limited to: It is the purpose of this specification to describe new, and of the latest manufacturer's current model and design, class "C" buses that are; diesel engine powered, 4x2, single rear axle, dual rear wheels. Buses shall provide seating for 44 passengers and one driver. Referenced Standards: The unit provided is required to meet all current federal and state regulations such as, but not limited to, EPA emissions, FMVSS, and CFR. Certain ISO, SAE, and other consensus standards may be referenced in this specification. Unless otherwise specified, the latest version of each standard is to be understood. Such standards apply to this specification whether or not they are required by statutes or administrative law. Component Selection: The components selected shall be rated for the maximum loading they would be subjected to in severe service. The torque rating of a driven component shall exceed the input torque. The parts and structure of the unit shall be sized and designed to safely withstand the maximum load imposed, without failure or induction of deterioration. All units shall be constructed from current production components. Standard Components: All components and accessories advertised in the manufacturer’s current model year brochure and specifications as standard, unless superseded by these specifications, shall be provided with the unit. Necessary Components: Contractors shall provide any components, hardware, or part necessary for proper assembly, installation, and operation even though that item(s) is not specifically described in the bid specifications. This includes all fittings, couplers, brackets, adapters, etc. Bidders shall include the cost of such components, hardware, and parts in the bid price. Application: This vehicle will be used for transporting passengers in varying weather and road conditions with a temperature range of 90 degrees to minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Documentation Required: A basic manufacturer's product brochure describing the equipment bid is to be provided with your bid package. Specifications marked with an asterisk (*) require supporting documentation in the form of a product brochure, manufacturer's technical data sheet, or a letter of clarification that indicates specifically what the bidder intends to supply in regard to said items and/or how specifications will be met. To help prevent technical errors, following each asterisked item is a space that may be used to address the asterisked items. It is required that a letter of clarification or the space behind the asterisked items be used to supply the required information. Windshield Wipers: Multiple-speed with washers and OEM-installed intermittent swipe feature. Paint: Exterior: The base color is to be Coca-Cola Red 2464, Pittsburg Glass Code #73589. The frame, wheels, and bumpers are to be black. Interior: Walls and headliner to be pale blue or a very light color. Undercoating: The entire underbody of the bus includes a waterbase undercoating. Lettering: To include quality adhesive (paint is not acceptable) lettering “ALASKA MILITARY YOUTH ACADEMY”, on the upper front (3 inches in height) and centered on each side of the bus (6 inches in height). The color is to be black. Striping: To include safety reflective striping that blends in with the color of the bus, including two-inch non-contrasting at all emergency exits, rear perimeter, and at beltline area. The use of one-inch reflective striping around the rear perimeter and emergency windows is acceptable. Fire retardant materials are to be used throughout. Winterization: Entire unit shall be winterized to provide satisfactory performance in temperatures of minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
