Specifications include, but are not limited to: There are families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) with whom language is often a barrier struggle to receive services in the community. The Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) will contract with a vendor to research the reasons why these families are unable to obtain proper home and community-based services and develop resources and training materials to assist in receiving better health care interactions and health outcomes over the course of a multi-phased approach project. The research will identify and answer the following questions: • Is age, geography or who you are connected to a reason why an individual with I/DD might be able to receive services or not? • Is there a lack of interpreter services available at provider organizations? Is there a need to advocate for more certified language interpreter positions within agencies? • What are imperative practice interventions that disability service organizations can do to help intervene with this issue? • What are the obstacles these individuals with I/DD face and what needs to be done to address these concerns?
