Specifications include, but are not limited to: UNLV is seeking a Supplier to provide a 13’ x 26’ LED volume that is the foundation of UNLV’s Virtual Production Initiative. The VPI is essential for training students in emerging filmmaking technology. Virtual production is a revolutionary way of making films and television shows that combines live-action footage and 3D computer graphics in real time. Training students in its tools and techniques is essential, as it prepares them to succeed in an industry that will soon employ virtual production as its central approach to making movies. A cinema-quality LED volume, the backbone of virtual film production, is a large screen composed of many LED light panels with tiny pixels supported by an array of specialized computers, camera tracking, and software that in combination allow us to generate an infinite number of locations and environments that can be displayed behind our actors and actively adjusted as the camera moves during shooting so that the backgrounds appear real from any shooting position. Students will be able to create photorealistic virtual locations, limited only by what their imaginations can design. UNLV seeks a turnkey solution that facilitates the art of filmmaking; this volume is NOT for producing commercials or advertising content. The volume should provide all of the elements listed below and be 100% complete and operational upon installation, including all parts, labor, equipment, training, supercomputers, camera tracking, extended sets, monitors, rack, control room, equipment, and furniture. Processors, computers, and volume provided must not display moiré effects or any other artifacts, and must be able to establish and maintain perfect synchronicity (genlock) with no stutter or latency. Power consumption must be under 200 amps.
