Specifications include, but are not limited to: A consulting company will be contracted to manage the overall revision to Rhode Island State Wildlife Action Plan. The project will be managed by RIDEM Staff in conjunction with the consultant. 1. Species – identification of the Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) in Rhode Island including distribution and abundance. 2. Habitats – key habitats and community types that are essential to the SGCN in Rhode Island. 3. Threats/Stressors - the problems that may adversely affect SGCN and their habitats and the information needed for restoration and conservation for SCGN in Rhode Island. 4. Actions – The actions necessary to conserve SGCN and their habitats in Rhode Island and the priorities for implementation. 5. Monitoring – The provisions for periodic monitoring of SGCN and their habitats, the effectiveness of conservation actions, and for adapting conservation actions to respond to changing conditions. 6. Review and Revision – the provisions to review Rhode Island’s Plan. 7. Partner Involvement – Rhode Island’s provisions for coordinating the review, revision and implementation of its plan with federal, state, and local agencies and Indian tribes. 8. Public Involvement – Rhode Island’s provisions to provide public participation in the review, revision, and implementation process. The following tasks will be conducted: 1. Coordination for process and document development a. Meet (physically or virtually) regularly to plan and update the scope, guidelines, objectives, and process for the SWAP revision. b. Meet with RI DEM to refine and update the workplan and schedule that lays out a realistic timeline and tasks to accomplish this project. Identify partners, committees, or advisory entities along with contact persons and protocols for project completion. 2. Develop and implement a process to identify conservation priorities (species and habitats) and compile list of species in greatest need of conservation. a. Identify and update threats and actions and identify monitoring needs. Contractor will engage the technical teams and stakeholders to update the list and involve stakeholders as determined by the relevancy survey results
