Specifications include, but are not limited to: Internally illuminated street name signs shall be lighted with Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting powered from 120 volt electrical source. The signs shall be approximately eight (8) feet long and twenty-four (24) inches high. Street name signs shall be provided on one side of the sign and the signs shall be designed to be mounted to a signal pole mast arm; however, the City may revise the sign mount based on the size of the sign and mounting conditions in the field. The light enclosures shall consist of a 6063 T-5 alloy aluminum housing with a single-piece solid top and shall be weather-tight. The frame shall have no breaks or gaps. The signs shall be capable of withstanding winds of one hundred (100) mph without damage. SIGN PANELS - GENERAL The sign panels shall be fabricated of clear plastic sheeting having a minimum thickness of 0.1875 inches with aluminum framing. The sign panels shall also comply with the following: 1. The clear plastic panels shall be covered with translucent white, wide-angle, prismatic reflective sign face sheeting, and either reverse-screened with manufacturer’s recommended green ink and clear coating or overlaid with green, electronic cuttable, transparent overlay film. Sign sheeting shall be 3M diamond grade as a minimum reflectance. 2. The sign sheeting shall be applied in a vertical orientation in accordance with the sheeting manufacturer’s recommendations. 3. The sign face shall have a 2-1/4-inch white border. 4. Sign lettering shall comply with MUTCD requirements. 5. Numbered Streets shall use numbered characters denoting the street number with the word “Street” completely written with upper and lower case lettering: i.e. “10th Street” and “1st Street” 6. Two spare sign panels shall be supplied with each sign. 7. Engineer approval is required for the sign face layout prior to fabrication. LED LIGHTED SIGNS 1. Lighting modules shall consist of white light emitting diodes (LEDs). 2. Power consumption shall be a maximum of 3.2 watts per linear foot while driving the LED module at full capacity. Normal consumption shall be approximately 2.0 watts per linear foot while driving the LED module at 70% of capacity. 3. The LED modules shall be replaceable using factory supplied modules. 4. The LED modules shall be powered by 120 volt ac standard electric source. 5. The LED module driver shall be contained in the sign. 6. Signs shall withstand and operate at temperature extremes of -40 degrees F and + 125 degrees F. 7. Signs shall be able to withstand salt spray, blowing sand, and moisture. 8. The top and bottom extrusions shall be molded using extruded aluminum alloy 6063. 9. Sign end caps shall be formed out of 0.08” sheet 5052 aluminum (minimum). 10. The bracket system shall be formed from 0.125" sheet 5052 aluminum (minimum). 11. All sign housing aluminum pieces shall be finished with a protective powder coating. 12. Sign end caps shall have an internal polyethylene gasket installed to form a seal between the end cap and the top and bottom extrusions. 13. Sign panel shall be slide mounted in the frame for easy accessibility. 14. Sign face shall have a minimum of 200 nits (200 Candela per square meter) or an equivalent surface luminance. 15. Acrylic surfaces shall be free of all blemishes in the plastics or coating that might impair the service or detract from the general appearance of the sign. 16. All fasteners shall be stainless steel.
