Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, is interested in procuring bids for a contractor to resurface sections of roadway and asphalt patch potholes at the Sand Island State Recreation Area; Asphalt Resurfacing of Roadway – Approximately 6 Sections of Damaged Roadway 1. Saw cut to create clean squared joints around areas to be asphalt resurfaced. 2. Remove 2 ½” of damaged asphalt in the areas to be resurfaced and compact existing base. All damaged asphalt shall be left in a designated area to be determined by the Parks Program Manager or designee. 3. Make appropriate slope adjustments to prevent ponding of water. 4. If subgrade repairs are required, add additional base rock and compact base to ninety-five (95) percent compaction. 5. Spray prime tack coat with SS1-H asphalt emulsion over base rock and exposed edges to be paved. 6. Resurface with standard 2 ½” layer of asphalt, state mix no. 5. Compact and connect into the existing pavement and compact to create a smooth transition. Asphalt Patching of Potholes – Approximately 13 Potholes 1. Saw cut to create clean squared joints where potholes are to be asphalt patched. 2. Remove 2 ½” of damaged asphalt in the areas to be patched and compact existing base. All damaged asphalt shall be left in a designated area to be determined by the Parks Program Manager or designee. 3. If subgrade repairs are required, add additional base rock and compact base to ninety-five (95) percent compaction. 4. Spray prime tack coat with SS1-H asphalt emulsion over base rock and exposed edges to be paved. 5. Resurface with standard 2 ½” layer of asphalt, state mix no. 5. Compact and connect into the existing pavement and compact to create a smooth transition.
