Specifications include, but are not limited to: The intent of this contract is for timber bridge repairs of Bridge No. 148 carrying 161st Street over Kirkendall Creek. Work shall be performed in accordance with these Special Provisions and any incidental work necessary shall be included in the unit price for other pay items. The following listing of work items shall be required as part of the lump sum bid. The CONTRACTOR shall become familiar with the plans and work site prior to quoting the project. This list is not meant to be all inclusive, although all attempts have been made to do such. The CONTRACTOR shall include these items and all other incidental work in their Lump Sum quote. Bridge Repair Scope of Work: 1. Remove existing bituminous wearing surface from the structure. 2. Install two new timber spreader beams at span ¼ points in each span and additional bolts in existing spreader beam to meet current standards. The existing partial spreader beam shall remain and be shimmed. 3. Shim all spreader beams with supplied shims. 4. Remove the curb blocks at all corners. Salvage existing hardware for re-use. Fill existing holes with a timber compatible two-part epoxy. All epoxy material to be supplied by the contractor. 5. Air blast the core rot from the ends of all timber pile caps (6 total locations) 6. Install a timber board over the end of each cap. Drill a 1” diameter hole in the top of each timber cap just outside of the timber deck. Then pour a timber compatible two-part epoxy to fill the core rot voids. All epoxy material to be supplied by the contractor. Anticipated epoxy quantity is 2 gallons per location, 12 gallons total. 7. Install new Timber Curb Blocks. Shift location of hardware so as not to go into same drive spike holes as existing. 8. Treat tops of all timber rail posts and any areas that appear dry or rotted with Copper Naphthenate. 9. Air blast clean deck and notify County that paving can be completed.
