Specifications include, but are not limited to: West Virginia University on behalf of its Board of Governors (“BOG”) located in Morgantown, West Virginia (“WVU” or “University”) is initiating this Request for Bids (“RFB”) from qualified, experienced, and licensed Contractors for the replacement of specific portions of the EPDM roof on the ISB in Beckley WV. A. Section includes administrative and procedural requirements for Welding, Hot work, Cutting and patching. B. The word “cutting” as used in the Contract Documents includes, but is not limited to, cutting, drilling, chopping, and other similar operations and the word “patching” includes, but is not limited to, patching, rebuilding, reinforcing, repairing, refurbishing, restoring, replacing, or other similar operations C. Scope. Welding, cutting, open torches and other hot work operations and equipment shall comply with this section. D. Permits. Hot work permits may be required as set forth in Section 3.3. E. Restricted areas. Hot work shall only be conducted in areas designed or authorized for that purpose by the personnel responsible for a Hot Work Program. Hot work shall not be conducted in the following areas unless approval has been obtained from the fire code official: F. Areas where the sprinkler system is impaired shall require additional safety protection and monitoring. G. Areas where there exists the potential of an explosive atmosphere, such as locations where flammable gases, liquids or vapors are not present. H. Areas with readily ignitable materials, such as storage of large quantities of bulk sulfur, baled paper, cotton, lint, dust, or loose combustible materials shall be properly protected.
