Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project is to remove the existing ceiling, old HVAC duct and electrical lighting equipment above the ceiling in the Clerk of Court Courtroom 4 and bookkeeping, and to encapsulate the asbestos-containing thermal system insulation (TSI) on steel beams, roof deck and overspray above the existing ceiling in order to seal it in place. All materials and wastes to be removed will be sealed and transported for disposal to a permitted landfill approved to accept asbestos waste. The intent of this project is to renovate Courtroom4 and bookkeeping in such a way that the asbestos insulation material has been satisfactorily managed and sealed, the building has passed visual inspections and air sampling tests, and is considered acceptable for occupancy so that it will not be a source of asbestos fiber exposure to future occupants of the area. During the removal process, present occupants, equipment, material, and facilities in the building are to be appropriately protected so that no present or future exposure may occur. Materials to be removed include: i. Existing suspended ceiling and ceiling grid, approximately 1,750 sf. ii. Existing HVAC duct work above the ceiling. iii. Existing electrical equipment above the ceiling. iv. All existing TSI thermal insulation and overspray will be thoroughly encapsulated with a penetrating encapsulant to seal it in place. v. Anchors and wires for the new suspended ceiling will be installed under containment.
