Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (Department) proposes to construct data driven highway safety improvements on the Old Steese Highway (see figure 1). Improvements will include reconstructing and widening the highway with 6 foot shoulders. . A contaminated soils management plan needs to be developed for the project. The areas of concern are: 1. Fox Mill Processing Facility (Active)-site is on the north side of the project and listed as containing arsenic, lead and other metals in the surface soils and tailing’s. 2. Fox General Store UST 3&4 (Active)-site contains petroleum contaminated soils. Source is approximately 300-ft from the project work area. 3. Tesoro #256 Foxe General Store (Cleanup Complete IC)-site contain petroleum contaminated soils from leaking storage tanks. Source is approximately 300-ft form the project work area.
