Specifications include, but are not limited to: Sealed bids for tree and stump removal on public land, park land and/or right-of-way (ROW); Stump: the remaining base of a tree located in the street right-of-way (ROW) after the final tree removal cut. Shredded Top Soil: Topsoil that has been mechanically shredded to remove or break up clumps/clods so that remaining clumps are no larger than 1” diameter. Topsoil shall consist of friable surface soil reasonably free of grass, roots, weeds, sticks, stones, or other foreign materials. The topsoil shall consist of sandy loam, with soil particles within the following percentages: clay; 0-25; silt; 25-50; sand; 50-70; decomposed organic matter; 5-10. The clay content is optional. Stump chips: any woody debris related to the act of grinding a stump. Surface root: Any root that is visible without disturbing native soil within the street ROW that is associated with the stump. Tamped: The act of having forcefully compressed/compacted the shredded top soil after the top soil has been placed into the stump hole to reduce the effects of soil settlement over time.
