Specifications include, but are not limited to: Operate an animal shelter for the city and to receive and care for animals impounded pursuant to City Ordinance (Chapter 10 Animals and Fowl); The contractor’s facilities shall be operated and maintained in a neat, clean and sanitary condition, in compliance with all applicable governmental statutes, ordinances, rules and regulations and in conformity with established standards for humane animal care. The City of Hastings delivers an average of 480 animals per year to the current animal sheltering service. The successful contractor shall be able to meet the following criteria: 1. Supply a copy of current Animal Shelter Facility License Application and License issued by the State of Nebraska Department of Agriculture. 2. Supply a copy of current Veterinary Care Plan required by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture Inspector. 3. Contractor shall maintain an accurate log of all animals brought to the facility by the City of Hastings Police Department and separately the number of animals brought into the facility by residents of the city of Hastings, their current & past status (impounded, claimed, adopted or euthanized) and make logs available to City staff during normal business hours. 4. Each October provide an annual report that includes the number of animals brought into the facility by the City of Hastings Police Department, by kind and the fees (income) associated with the sheltering of these animals. Contractor and the City respectfully enter into this agreement for the purposes of (1) protecting the public from the risk of at large animals, (2) providing humane care for animals brought in by the City and (3) ensuring Contractor remains fiscally capable of providing all necessary animal shelter services for animals brought in by the City.
