Specifications include, but are not limited to: The organization shall provide Information & Referrals Specialists who will screen every caller to see if they have school-aged children, Pre-K through 12, who are in enrolled in Alaska Public Schools or should be enrolled in Alaska Public Schools. The organization will provide uncomplicated, efficient access to community assistance. Callers reaching out will receive access to trained Information & Referral Specialists who will assess and screen their situation, provide referrals that meet their needs, and offer assistance designed to address the underlying cause of the problem. Screening Call protocol 1. If callers answer “Yes,” to the pre-screening question, Information & Referral Specialists will ask the caller if they are: a. currently homeless, b. doubled-up families which includes children and youth who are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason; c. runaway, abused, neglected or ungovernable adolescents at safe place shelters; d. children and their mothers who reside in domestic abuse shelters and transitional housing; e. families residing in emergency shelters, hotels, or other temporary arrangements; f. pregnant teen or young mothers and their babies in shelters due to their problematic situations; g. unaccompanied youth; h. migratory children who qualify as homeless; i. experiencing any other barriers related to adequate housing and/or enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school.
