Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Columbia is requesting all interested and qualified water & wastewater treatment chemical vendors; The vendor shall be solely responsible for all costs, including chemical trials, set-up and analysis. 1. Chlorine (Liquid) - Shall meet AWWA Standard B301-04. Chlorine shall be practically pure and anhydrous. 2. Fluoride/Fluorosilicic Acid (Liquid) Shall meet AWWA Standard B703-06 and have NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) approval for use in potable water. The specific gravity shall be 1.21 density. 3. Anhydrous Ammonia (Liquid) Shall meet AWWA Standard B305-06. May contain traces of Nitrogen and Hydrogen. 4. Aluminum Sulfate (Alum) Shall meet AWWA Standard B403-03. Shall be approved by South Carolina State Board of Health for use in drinking water treatment. Shall have a density of 36° to 36 ½° Baume. Shall be supplied in LIQUID form in approximately 3,000 to 6,000 gallons per truck load. 5. Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda) Shall meet AWWA Standard B501-08. Shall be approved by the S.C. State Board of Health for use in drinking water treatment. Shall be in LIQUID form and in a 50% solution. Shall be supplied in lots of approximately 3,000 or 3,500 gallons. 6. Liquid Lime (Calcium Hydroxide) Slurry shall be prepared from hydrated lime and not exceed 35% suspension by weight solution and the specific gravity should be between 1.25 – 1.30. The mean particle size must not exceed 22 microns and the maximum particle shall not exceed 96 microns. Slurry product shall be passed through a 100 – 150 mesh filter to remove any particulate matter.
