Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project funds leadership activities that support adult education and literacy services, including technical assistance, professional development, curriculum development, report publication and technology training to providers of adult and literacy services. An essential component of the grant is the continued alignment of services with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act core programs and partners. The goal of this grant is to assist adult education and literacy providers to (1) assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency; (2) assist adults who are parents or family members to obtain the education and skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children and lead to sustainable improvements in the economic opportunities for their family; (3) assist adults in attaining a secondary credential and transitioning to post-secondary training or education; (4) assist immigrants and other individuals who are English language learners in improving their reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills in English, mathematics skills, and acquiring an understanding of the American system of Government, individual freedom and the responsibilities of citizenship. The project is subsidized by federal and state funding.
