Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Billings (City) seeks an artist or team of two artists to serve as the artist-in-residence (AIR) for the Mobilize the MAGIC City program, supported in part by the Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The City reserves the right to create a team of two unassociated artists from the applicant pool in order to best meet the needs of the project. The City is partnering with the Billings Arts Association (BAA), and Healthy by Design (HBD) on this project. The City AIR will be tasked with advancing the City’s goals including creating a robust and creative public engagement process, promoting economic vitality, beautifying the built environment, and improving safety. The City AIR will span one year, and the AIR is required to reside in the Billings area (within approximately one hour of Billings) for the duration of the year. At the conclusion of this project, the AIR will have created a minimum of two placemaking hubs along Billings’ first bikeway, a feasibility study for a public arts commission, and a placemaking playbook.
