Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Topeka is soliciting bids to establish a contract with a qualified vendor for furnishing the specified stainless steel tapping sleeves to the City of Topeka, Water Division. The tapping sleeves are to be full circle gasket type and shall be constructed of Grade 18-8, Type 304 stainless steel. All welds shall be passivated in order to return the stainless steel material to its original corrosive-resistant condition. The tapping sleeve shall be furnished with a gridded rubber gasket compounded for water service. The gasket shall provide a 360 degree circumferential seal and will have stainless steel armors molded in place to span the gap between the two tapping sleeve sections. Each sleeve will also have an outlet gasket to provide a primary seal. The gasket shall be permanently attached to the sleeve at the factory. The flange shall be Grade 18-8, Type 304 stainless steel and will conform to AWWA C207 Class DANSI B-16.5 150 pound drilling and be recessed to accept standard tapping valves. All bolts and nuts shall be Grade 18-8, Type 304 stainless steel and shall be coated to prevent galling or seizing. Each tapping sleeve shall be rated for 150 PSI working pressure and factory tested to 225 PSI. The tapping sleeves shall be Model 3490-MJ manufactured by Power Seal Pipeline Products, Cascade Model CST-EX-MJ or Ford Model FTSS-MJ.
