Specifications include, but are not limited to: The unique setting and location of the building call for several related key objectives for the building including: • Creating opportunities to better connect it – physically and visually - to the surrounding community. • Ensuring that the building and its grounds retain a sense of being publicly accessible, while potentially allowing a mix of public and private uses. The City is open to all creative recommendations for the adaptive reuse of the former Central Library building. The City anticipates that some combination of private and public uses will be necessary to address the City’s goal of maintaining public access to the building while ensuring a financially feasible project. The City is desirous of a short-to-mid-term contractual agreement to keep the building in-use and accessible while producing a long-term plan. There will be no City funding for any renovations to the building, any such renovations would be the sole responsibility of any contracted parties.
