Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall repair various bridge joint types on 22 bridges located along I-10 in Jackson County. The joint repair shall include removal of all existing joint material, joint preparation, saw cutting, installation of the preformed joint seal and other necessary work per the included standard drawings or as directed by the Project Engineer. Removal of existing joint material will not be paid directly and shall be considered an absorbed item of work. Removed materials shall not be allowed to fall into the waterway below. After the existing joint material has been removed, the joints shall be saw cut as per the Joint Repair Standard Drawing. Saw cuts will be paid for under either pay item 907-823-B: Type I or 907-823-B: Type II. The joints shall be repaired, if necessary, with epoxy mortar or an approved equivalent. This work will be paid for under pay item 907-808-A: Joint Repair. The joint shall be sealed by one of the three approved manufacturers listed in Special Provision 907-823 and installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications. The joints between the bridge end pavement and bridge abutment end wall shall be cleaned and sealed and will be paid for under pay item 413-A: Joint Sealer Material. Removal of existing material will not be paid directly and shall be considered an absorbed item of work.
