Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Annual acreage will be roughly 50 acres, however that may be more or less depending on specific site goals • The awardee must be available to accomplish land clearing services, which involves the removal of trees and/or shrubs using heavy equipment at sites that are maintained as natural conservation areas. • Awardee must have previous experience with land clearing, ROW maintenance and/or habitat management. • Required heavy equipment includes only: tracked or wheeled feller buncher with sufficient capacity for mature tree harvesting; tracked excavator with mulching attachment; tracked skid steer with mulching attachment; wheeled loader with mulching attachment. The Department will dictate allowable equipment for each job. Must be capable of felling trees by chainsaw when necessary. • Awardee must be available on-call to accomplish jobs throughout the duration of the contract; awardee must commence jobs within 45 days of each job request from the Department. Each job must be completed within the timeframe dictated by the Department. • Each job will be at least 1 acre in size and no greater than 50 acres in size. There is potential for multiple jobs to occur simultaneously. • The Department will mark the boundary of each harvest area, and may mark individual trees or shrubs to retain or remove. Landing and points of access will be dictated by the Department. • All woody material over 4” diameter must be removed from the job site unless otherwise instructed. Woody material <4” in dia. may be felled and left in place • Whole tree chipping is permitted at a designated landing site • Standing stumps should be left no more than 12 inches high. • The creation of a limited number of brush piles or other habitat features may be requested, however tops and other slash should be removed from the site unless otherwise specified. • Must be able to provide timber mats or suitable substitute and use them upon request by the Department. • All damage to stone walls, culverts shall be repaired. Any ruts greater than 12” deep must be back bladed and smoothed out. • Bid request should be submitted as dollars per acre and should reflect all anticipated costs.
