Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Wichita is requesting proposals from qualified firms to provide architectural services for the design and construction administration of renovation and expansion of the Westlink Library. The facility is located at 8515 Bekemeyer St. in Wichita, KS, and all construction activities will occur within the existing Library facility and attached expansion. The purpose of this RFP is to identify a Design Team made up of an architectural firm and its consultants, including FF&E coordination, to supply detailed design and work scope for concurrent renovation of existing space and buildout of additional space from an existing conceptual design. The Design Team is encouraged, although not specifically required, to expand upon the provided layout in developing more detailed drawings and specifications. The work is expected to be performed via three Phases – 1) Schematic & Design Development, 2) Construction Documents and 3) Bidding & Construction Administration. The Library, located near Central and Ridge Road, serves as a cornerstone facility for community services in west Wichita. The existing building has approximately 10,340 square feet of footprint and has been a mainstay since 1981, exhibiting unique architectural design, which will be remain intact as interior modernization renovations take place. The project will also significantly expand the Library by roughly 8,550 square feet and improve program offerings and functionality that will suit community needs on an even greater scale for years to come. A conceptual plan, including site considerations, has been included for reference as EXHIBIT A with this RFP.
