Specifications include, but are not limited to: make a noncompetitive purchase and create a State Term Contract for less lethal Safariland Defense Technology products utilized by the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) ; INTENDED SOURCE: The State intends to make a noncompetitive purchase from the following vendors: Streicher’s 10911 West Highway 55 Plymouth, MN 55441 JUSTIFICATION: NDHP tested multiple less than lethal options available on the market and determined the Defense Technology DEFTECH 12 gauge Drag Stabilized Round was the best option. Streicher’s is the authorized Safariland distributor of Defense Technology products for North Dakota. NDHP Officers attend a 4 day instructor course put on by "The Safariland Training Group." The class includes certification for 3 years and is ND POST board approved. This certification, along with annual extensive NDHP Officer training, allows the Officers to testify in criminal and civil court about their knowledge of how the products react. Officers are trained and certified with Safariland Defense Technology Products, and this allows NDHP to maintain a uniformity and familiarity for Officers. This increases safety in critical stress situations and helps reduce expenses for training and maintenance across multiple less lethal brands/products available.
