Specifications include, but are not limited to: Vehicles: Type A, B, C, and D buses provided for District transportation services may be no older than 15 years of age. The District may require up to 84 passenger buses. Type III vehicles must be no older than 12 years of age. Sufficient vehicles shall include, for replacement, substitute, and standby use, an amount equal to 10% of the total number of to/from school routes. The contractor must be able to provide (5) vehicles for field trips during morning and afternoon route times. The contractor shall furnish a list of vehicles, their capacity, and model year to the District each August 1st; All equipment must comply with the most recently adopted National Standards for School Buses and School Bus Operations which have been adopted by the State of Minnesota for bus types A, B, C, and D. All vehicles shall also be equipped with: • 2-way radios. A “hand-held” radio must be supplied to the District for all frequencies used by buses operating in the District. An alternate monitoring system may be recommended and provided by the Contractor; • Back-up alarms; • Digital video and audio recording system that has a minimum of 3 cameras installed per bus. Contractor shall provide the District with the necessary equipment to view recorded video. Contractor shall be responsible for maintenance, and all cameras must be kept in operable condition. All vehicles must display a poster stating “This bus may be equipped with video and audio surveillance”, notifying riders that their conversations or actions may be recorded on tape. District will levy a fine of $50/incident of cameras not working; • An electronic device that requires the driver to walk to the back of the bus to check for students after each run such as Sleeping Child Check Monitor®; • A “Student Bus Behavior Rules” poster; • A “School Bus Danger Zone” poster; Special Needs equipment – Additional equipment such as handicapped lifts may have to be added throughout the year and shall be provided as an amendment to the contract upon terms mutually agreed upon. Equipment unique to the needs of an individual student shall be identified by the District. There must be one (1) four station wheel chair equipped bus with additional capacity to seat up 41 passengers in K-5 or 25 passengers 6 grade to adult.; The Contractor must provide Four (4) - twenty-four passenger buses equipped with two integrated booster seats in the first row (total of two seats/four boosters), and flexible seating offering three lap-shoulder belts in the next two rows (total of four seats/twelve student positions).
