Specifications include, but are not limited to: FSD is seeking to enter into a grant or grants with one or more vendors that can provide statewide resources and guidance on the unique circumstances surrounding parental incarceration and how to best support children and families, improving children's' success in school, the community and at home, while mitigating the effects of trauma associated with incarceration. This includes the provision of statewide assistance focusing in five areas: coping with incarceration; maintaining family health and wellness; achieving educational success; building community connections; and creating stable families. Assistance includes the production and distribution of an online tool-kit (with ability to be in print if appropriate) of communitybased strategies for providers that work with families that have or had an incarcerated parent to utilize when working with these families, management of a website with educational resources for families and providers, development of case management strategies for providers that work with families that have or had an incarcerated parent, and trainings for community-based providers on best practices in offering services for children of incarcerated parents and their families. It is estimated that approximately 5-10 trainings would be provided annually, and several community-based providers, such as, but not limited to, law enforcement, early childhood providers, caretakers, and Family Services staff, would be provided support annually; please note, these are estimates only for informational purposes and not guaranteed amounts.
