Specifications include, but are not limited to: REATMENT AREA and ACREAGE: Roughly 75 (+/-) acres of marked wood focusing on crop tree release and small group selections. The primary products will be white pine logs, firewood, Hemlock logs, and hardwood logs. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is located on the Darling Hill Forest in Lyndonville, VT off Darling Hill Road, owned by the Kingdom Trails Association. The project entails approximately 80 acres of marked timber, which encompasses numerous mountain bike trails. Harvesting will focus on the removal of low-grade and high-risk stems with a variety of species being removed which include, but are not limited to, white pine, sugar maple, ash, yellow birch, and hemlock. This sale is occurring in a highly used area for summer and winter recreation, which will require care and attention to detail beyond the scope of a normal timber sale to minimize disturbance and clean up of existing trails come spring. This will include observing flagged trails along essential recreational corridors to minimize disturbance, crossing recreational trails at right angles only, starting and completing harvesting in units to minimize closure of trails, and closeout in the spring will need to occur as soon as ground conditions permit. The Kingdom Trial Association, working through their forester, are looking for a capable logging company to complete this project. Mechanized crews with chipping capabilities and low-grade market access are required, in addition to having access to an excavator for closeout.
