All correspondence must be made through the Vendor Portal. Specifications include, but are not limited to: Site Preparation and Operations • All grass areas will be edged before sealcoating. o All dumpsters, Port-a-potty’s and vehicle stops much be removed prior to work and restored into position after the sealcoating and striping is completed. o All asphalt areas will be cleared of sand, and debris before sealing, repairs and sealcoating is applied. o The entrance off the edge of the gravel roadway will be barricaded to denied use of the entrance way. o The project from the start to finish will be no more the 72 hours in length, without prior approval from the Shooting Range Coordinator. Similarly, the project start date, but be mutually agreed upon between the contractor and the Department. o The estimate and invoice for payment must be itemized, clearly written, and submitted within 10 working days on project completion at the Department’s acceptance of the work. o All work must be done before 11/1/2022. Asphalt repairs o Repair all defects in the asphalt under the rolling dumpster, paved entryway/parking lot, two holes adjacent to concrete, range side in front of the RSO Office (chair leg indents). o Cut out asphalt damage and repair surfaces under the asphalt area, resurface asphalt to the edge of concrete ADA contact to the Archery cover. (ADA Ramp Area must be cut out, materials compacted, and Asphalt replaced and compacted, according to specifications below.) o All seams in asphalt pavement much be sealed with rubber before sealcoating, using ASTM D 6690, Type II or III, hot-applied, single-component, polymer-modified bituminous sealant. Asphalt repair specifications • Any paving-mix manufacturer used in this project must be registered with and approved by DOT. • Imprinted-asphalt manufacturer's authorized installer must be trained and approved for installation of imprinted asphalt required for this Project. • Do not apply asphalt materials if subgrade is wet or excessively damp, if rain is imminent or expected before time required for adequate cure, or if the following conditions are not met: 1. Tack Coat: Minimum surface temperature of 60 deg F. 2. Slurry Coat: Comply with weather limitations in ASTM D 3910. 3. Asphalt Base Course: Minimum surface temperature of 40 deg F and rising at time of placement. 4. Asphalt Surface Course: Minimum surface temperature of 60 deg F at time of placement. Aggregate to be used • Coarse Aggregate: ASTM D 692, sound; angular crushed stone, crushed gravel, or cured, crushed blast-furnace slag. • Fine Aggregate: ASTM D 1073 AASHTO M 29, sharp-edged natural sand or sand prepared from stone, gravel, cured blast-furnace slag, or combinations thereof. • Mineral Filler: ASTM D 242 AASHTO M 17, rock or slag dust, hydraulic cement, or other inert material. • For hot-mix asphalt, limit natural sand to a maximum of 20 percent by weight of the total aggregate mass. Asphalt Specifications • Asphalt Binder: AASHTO M 320 or AASHTO MP 1a, PG 64-22. • Asphalt Cement: ASTM D 3381 for viscosity-graded material ASTM D 946 for penetration-graded material. • Tack Coat: ASTM D 977 emulsified asphalt, or AASHTO M 208 cationic emulsified asphalt, slow setting, diluted in water, of suitable grade and consistency for application. • Water: Potable. • Undersealing Asphalt: ASTM D 3141, pumping consistency. • Sand: ASTM D 1073, Grade Nos. 2 or 3. • Hot-Mix Asphalt: Dense, hot-laid, hot-mix asphalt plant mixes approved by authorities having jurisdiction; designed according to procedures in AI MS-2, "Mix Design Methods for Asphalt Concrete and Other Hot-Mix Types"; and complying with the following requirements: 1. Mixes with a history of satisfactory performance in Maine 2. Base Course: #8 HMA binder. 3. Surface Course: #11 HMA surface. 4.Hot-Mix Asphalt: Dense, hot-laid, hot-mix asphalt plant mixes approved by authorities having jurisdiction and designed according to procedures in AI MS-2, "Mix Design Methods for Asphalt Concrete and Other Hot-Mix Types." 5. Provide mixes complying with composition, grading, and tolerance requirements in ASTM D 3515 for the following nominal, maximum aggregate sizes: a. Base Course: 1 inch. b. Surface Course: 1/2 inch. c. Emulsified-Asphalt Slurry: ASTM D 3910, Type 1.
