Specifications include, but are not limited to: This GEM Pop-top HpGe gamma detector with extended warranty from Ametek (Ortec) will be purchased with grant funding for the Idaho State University Environmental Monitoring Laboratory (EML.) EML processes most of the Idaho Falls regional office samples. The EML wishes to purchase a GEM Pop-top HpGe gamma detector with 25% relative efficiency and included cryostat manufactured by Ortec. The increase in samples requiring gamma spectrometry analysis at the EML requires the need to add another detector system. Components such as shield, dewer, and controlling electronics are already present in the EML. Adding the ‘Pop-top' style is necessary as the detector can be transplanted to other cryostats for added capability in portable detection and special research geometries and measurement configurations, ie, measuring waste and large out of shield Items.
