Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. From Central Avenue to Water Street, the work includes the replacement of broken sidewalks and driveways, removing trip hazards, installing ADA-accessible ramps at intersections, striped crosswalks and bicycle lanes, and marked parallel parking spaces along the south side of the street. To make room for the bicycle lanes, there shall not be parking spaces on the north side of the street except across from St. Mary’s Church. 2. From Water Street to the National Park entrance. The current plan is to reduce the large triangle of asphalt by installing two landscaped islands. The landscaping plan will include low maintenance, low-profile plants or stone mulch and boulders so that visibility is not impaired. This section shall also include improved pedestrian crosswalks and sidewalk improvements inside the Water Street park and along a section of Ozark Street. The current plan includes two-way cut-through lanes to provide easy access to Dryden Pottery and Willow Street. 3. The section from the entrance to the National Park to Daley Terrace shall include a wide bicycle lane around the inside curb line of the National Park. The bike lanes will follow the one-way path of the vehicle lanes. Parallel parking spaces shall be provided on the outside curb line, except at driveways. Also, in this segment, broken sidewalk repairs, ADA accessible ramps, trip hazard removals, crosswalks, and intersection improvements to reduce the unprotected length of the pedestrian path shall be included. There are two-way traffic lanes at Daley Terrace, so a protected multi-use bike/pedestrian lane shall be proposed there. 4. From Daley Terrace to Baseball Trail Park. The accessibility plan for this segment includes a 12' wide multiuse path for the western portion of the corridor. Where possible, the multi-use path shall be set back from the edge of the pavement with a grass buffer. The eastern portion of this corridor will incorporate bike lanes along the street. Sidewalk improvements, crosswalks, and ADA ramps shall be added to provide pedestrian access to the path from the neighborhoods on the south side of Whittington Avenue.
