Specifications include, but are not limited to: This is a project for an interpretive redesign of an existing interactive display at the Minnesota State Fair. The display is intended to be an interactive application that educates members of the public about invasive species and the actions they can take to help prevent the spread of invasive species. The display should provide information on how to properly clean their equipment for both terrestrial and aquatic invasive species including preferably four modules (ATV, hiker, watercraft, and boat lift) and a minimum of two modules, one for both aquatic and terrestrial invasive species. This is a project for an interpretive redesign of an existing interactive display at the Minnesota State Fair. The existing display uses an Epson Brightlink Pro 1460ui with a media player that allows users to interact with a screen which is calibrated on an X – Y axis. The new application should be able to be used on the existing large screen, and ideally also on tablets and webpages. The work will involve concept design, interpretive planning, graphic design, art production, software production, and delivery of an accessible (universal design) exhibit. A competitive proposal will include iterative evaluation and testing in the production process. The goal of this project is to re-design an existing interactive display at the Minnesota DNR State Fair building into a highly engaging interpretive product that draws visitors into using the product. Similar to other highly engaging interactive displays, like the “fly like an eagle” exhibit in the National Park Visitor Center at the Science Museum of Minnesota, this project would include gaming components and create an emotional connection to the topic. The new exhibit will be interactive and accessible, educating diverse visitors to the State Fair. The exhibit must appeal to both children and adults. One goal is to use as little to no text so that it is understandable to a wide audience. DNR Invasive Species Program Goals for State Fair The Minnesota DNR building and grounds receives approximately 500,000 visitors during the State Fair. The goal of this project is to educate users on appropriate actions they can take to minimize the risk of spreading terrestrial and aquatic invasive species. Key Audience: • Families who regularly recreate either on the water or in parks and forests that have a general understanding of invasive species but may not be aware of the actions they can do to prevent the spread of terrestrial and aquatic invasive species. Recreational Group Audiences touring the building we want to target are: • Anglers • Boaters, canoers, and kayakers • Prospective boat owners • Shoreline residents • Hikers • Off-highway vehicles (OHV) trail users • Mountain bikers • Equestrian riders • Campers • Hunters
